Aroma: A combination of sweet apple and autumn spice notes, with hints of honey
Honey Glycerin soap bar 150g (Large Bar).
The aroma’s chosen for this soap were inspired by a visit that I made to Edgar Allan Poe’s house in Philadelphia, unknowingly on his birthday of all days. When I stood in Edgar’s bedroom and looked out his window as the sun set, I saw large black birds perched up in what looked like dead apple trees. And with bay rum being a popular aftershave in the USA around his lifetime, this combination made the perfect pairing to honour him.
Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849) was an American writer, poet, and critic known for his tales of mystery and the macabre, such as "The Raven" and "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," which is credited with initiating the modern detective story. Orphaned as a child, he was raised by foster parents, the Allans, but had a tumultuous relationship with his foster father. After leaving the University of Virginia and West Point due to financial and personal issues, he dedicated himself to writing, though he struggled financially throughout his life. He died in Baltimore under mysterious circumstances at the age of 40.
““Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.”— Edgar Allan Poe
